North Dartmouth, MA — August 20, 2026 — A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is pleased to announce the award of a new contract with NOAA Fisheries’ Alaska Region to provide Fisheries Disaster Support Services. The contract includes a one-year base period and two one-year option periods.

Under the contract, AIS will support NOAA Fisheries in evaluating fishery disaster requests submitted by states, tribes, and other eligible government entities under Section 312(a) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act.

Fishery disaster determinations are an important step in the federal process for responding to significant economic impacts and declines in fishery access or biomass caused by qualifying disaster events. AIS will work alongside NOAA Fisheries’ Alaska Region to help ensure requests are reviewed thoroughly, consistently, and in accordance with established statutory requirements and NOAA policy guidance.

AIS responsibilities will include reviewing disaster requests for completeness, coordinating with requesting entities to resolve information gaps, evaluating quantitative and economic information, and supporting the development of formal decision memoranda for NOAA regional and headquarters review. AIS will also develop and maintain tools for tracking Alaska fishery disasters throughout their lifecycle, from the initial declaration request through funding and grant closeout.

Additional support will include maintaining an Alaska fishery disaster database, developing standardized resources for requesting entities, preparing annual status reports and spend plans, and monitoring information related to disaster relief activities.

“Fishery disasters can have significant and lasting impacts on fishing communities, and the decisions surrounding disaster determinations require careful analysis, strong communication, and disciplined program management,” said Lucas Curci, Department Head of Scientific Research at AIS. “We are proud to expand our partnership with NOAA Fisheries and bring AIS’s fisheries expertise to a process that ultimately helps NOAA make timely, well-supported decisions for the communities and fisheries it serves.”

The award further expands AIS’s support to NOAA Fisheries and reflects the company’s continued growth across fisheries science, data analysis, program management, and technical services.
