Every AIS team member has played a crucial role and will continue to be instrumental in the program’s success. Observers are the foundation of the company and the bedrock to AIS’ ability to deliver outstanding service.
We are honored to be selected and continue working with the agency to support their vital work.
The awarded contract is set to commence October 1, 2024, with AIS poised to begin operations immediately. This contract represents a significant milestone for AIS and reflects the company’s ongoing dedication to exceptional service to the AFSC.
This contract involves providing extensive and essential observer services for Alaska groundfish and halibut vessels fishing in the partial coverage sector, reinforcing AIS’ commitment to supporting sustainable fisheries management and data collection in the region.
Work completed under this contract spans over 3,000 miles of coastline in Alaska from Ketchikan to Adak, and as far north as Nome. Support staff work from offices in Seattle, Kodiak, and Anchorage with observers deploying from 48 coastal communities to support this effort. AIS’ experienced observers complete required trainings each year to work on both partial and full coverage fishing vessels, as well as RACE/MACE surveys in the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea.
